Reuters issued a statement apologizing for the photo, and Demoulin-Lauziere issued a statement saying that he was “shocked” that his photo had been used in a “political disinformation campaign.”
Despite the fact that the photo is clearly a hoax, it has been reposted by numerous far-right conspiracy theorists and has been used as “evidence” that Obama is a secret Nazi sympathizer.
